Dwarf Sword (RUNE II)

This is one of two weapons I was contracted to design and make for the PC game “RUNE II” (https://www.rune2.com/), originally developed by Human Head Studios but with development later picked up by Studio369.

While I'm generally really happy with the design and end product, I have since learned more and now see several areas in which it could improve. Most notably the engraving/relief pattern running down the length of the blade. I sculpted this by hand, but in hindsight I probably should have modeled that with vertices to get it more symmetric and tidy. That said, I like the more organic look of doing it by hand since I dislike when things look too perfect.

Also, the materials aren't great. Roughness patches in particular could have been made better.

It was created using Blender and Substance Painter.
